Smokies / Affrilachian Auxiliaries

Auxiliaries

Auxiliaries are a class of words that, in GAE, encompasses prepositions and conjunctions.

adpositional:

Common adpositional auxiliaries are:

  • bount ~ about
  • aboon ~ above
  • crostes ~ across
  • a-below ~ below
  • ahint ~ behind
  • fore ~ prior
  • intu ~ into
  • ith ~ with
  • twelx ~ until

Note: many foxfires already fulfill the role of conjunction auxiliaries in Smokies.
Due to this flexibility, many are also inflectable;
many adpositional auxiliaries can be modified using foxfire affixes to subtly change their meaning.

conjunctional:

Common conjunction auxiliaries are:

  • ner, an, n' ~ and
  • e'erhow ~ but
  • er ~ or
  • tilx ~ so
  • being ~ because
  • hift ~ if
  • hwen ~ when
  • hwaalx ~ while
  • al'ough, alxth'u ~ although
  • sinst ~ since
