The Orthographies

Traditional Spelling:

This covers the traditional non-phonetic spellings that naturally evolved directly from standardized GAE spellings. These are the spellings overwhelmingly used in published works and dictionaries.

Daalec Phonetic Alphabet:

vowels:

• a ~ /schwa, high/ => uiú ~ /pu-uht/
• ae ~ /cat/ => eiú /kay-uht/
• e ~ /met/
• ea ~ /can/ => eiú (with drawl)
• ei ~ /slay/
• ee ~ /sleep/
• i ~ /pit/ => eeú /bee-uhn/
• ie ~ /eye/
• o ~ /a/
• oa ~ /law/
• oe ~ /oh/ => oeú ~ /doe-uh/ (with drawl)
• oo ~ /u/
• yoo ~ /you/
• oee ~ /oy/
• u ~ /schwa, low, grammatical/ => uiú (with drawl)
• ui ~ /put/
• ue, aeoo ~ /au/
• aar, ‘r ~ /deep rotic vowel/
• lx ~ /dark L/

consonants:

• Identical to GAE: b, d, f, h, l, m, n, p, r, t, v, w, x, z, ch, sh, ng
• j ~ /d3/, g ~ /g/, y ~ /j/, zu(h) ~ /3/
• c ~ /k/, s ~ /s/, qu(h) ~ /kw/
• th ~ /θ/, the/thu/thh ~ /that/

Frankland Spelling:

This spelling combines the most important features of each of the prior orthographies. Improtance is determied by how culturally significant and distinct a given feature is. From each, respectively we have influences such as: unique or iconic spellings, daalec directly community contributions, and State of Franklin relatives.
